Managing Consultant

Description

The Managing Consultant will work independently and collaboratively with a diverse national team to manage airport planning projects, from defining goals and coordinating with clients to delivering final reports and presentations. The role requires technical curiosity, strategic thinking, and teamwork across multiple disciplines, providing opportunities to shape the future of fast‑growing airports.

• Manage project schedules, budgets, progress tracking, and issue resolution.
• Prepare scopes of work and project budgets.
• Identify and coordinate staff and subconsultants for assignments.
• Define project goals and liaise with clients and task leaders.
• Formulate preliminary conclusions and assess impacts on other projects.
• Review and guide technical work of junior team members.
• Develop final report outlines and deliver complete reports and deliverables.
• Deliver client presentations and contribute to technical proposals.
• Provide technical advice, assistance, and written recommendations on airport planning studies.
• Support for professional certification, licensure, association membership, conferences, and seminars.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in aviation‑related field such as architecture, civil engineering, aviation management, or urban planning.
• 5–10 years of progressive experience in airport consulting, management consulting, or related discipline.
• Familiarity with multiple airport planning areas (airfield, airspace, terminal, ground transportation, air cargo, support facilities).
• Strong understanding of airport capital programs, financing, forecasting, commercial strategy, and environmental considerations.
• Excellent analytical, verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel as needed for project support.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and other visualization tools; Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Knowledge of research techniques, aviation industry sources, and analytical methods.
• Experience with planning software, statistical/spreadsheet applications, and databases.
• Familiarity with FAA regulations and general airport facility planning principles (preferred).
• Ability to manage and supervise professional planners and subconsultants.
• Strong research, organization, and analytical abilities to formulate recommendations.
• Capability to build and maintain effective relationships with senior client executives.
• In‑depth knowledge of FAA rules, regulations, and airport planning best practices.
• Highly organized; can prioritize work and manage concurrent projects across teams.
• Self‑motivated with initiative to identify creative, technically sound solutions.
• Effective communicator with excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.
