  • Maintain a weekly list of high hazard activities involving energy, equipment, excavation, entry into confined space, and elevation, and be prepared to discuss details during QC Meetings.
  • Coordinating and presenting safety training to support client requirements including new hire orientation, fall protection, confined space, lockout/tagout.
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Review the APP and AHAs for compliance with EM 385-1-1, and approve, sign, implement and enforce them.
  • Conduct incident / near miss investigations and complete required accident reports. Report mishaps and near misses.
  • Provide and keep a record of site safety orientation and indoctrination for Contractor employees, subcontractor employees, and site visitors.
  • Attend the pre-construction conference, pre-work meetings including preparatory meetings, and periodic in-progress meetings.
  • Routinely monitoring the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coach employees on the correct behaviors when observed.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • Interfacing with Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) (Provincial or federal) officials/inspectors in the event or a site visit.
  • Maintain applicable safety reference material on the site.
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
  • Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log which includes area/operation inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, estimated and actual date of corrections. Attach safety inspection logs to the Contractors' daily production report.
  • Routinely inspecting the facilities, machinery, and safety equipment in order to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
  • Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their material Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

  • OSHA 30-hour OR Equivalent formal safety training covering OSHA 30-hour and EM 385-1-1 topics
  • 5 years of continuous safety experience in construction industry (supervising/managing safety programs, hazard analysis, control development).
  • Hold a valid:
  • Regular, reliable attendance
  • 4 years of experience if holding a nationally accredited safety certification (ANSI or NCCA).
  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely
  • Must be a US Citizen (Required by site)
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
