Electrical Designer/ Engineer (Remote)

Description

• Meet firm engineering quality standards on assigned projects.
• Oversee development of design concepts and ensure proper execution.
• Verify designer work for specifications, code compliance, submittals, equipment selection and deliverables.
• Mentor and develop junior designers.
• Apply firm risk‑management practices to project engineering.
• Lead discipline design to produce construction documents that meet requirements, schedule and budget.
• Encourage collaboration to achieve optimal solutions.
• Front‑end load projects and set direction during schematic and design development phases.
• Manage work plans and deliverables across multiple projects within budgeted hours.
• Prepare studies and reports for electrical systems.
• Execute complex electrical designs with conflicting requirements or coordination challenges.
• Provide expertise in specific electrical requirements for targeted market sectors.
• Evaluate value‑engineering items with respect to risk.
• Edit and develop basis‑of‑design narratives documenting project scope.
• Meet with contractors during the bid phase to review design details.
• Guide designers in preparing one‑line diagrams.
• Assist in responding to RFIs and accurately review submittals.
• Solve installation problems, including site visits to resolve issues.
• Provide guidance for electrical load calculations and panel schedules.
• Perform voltage‑drop, conductor‑sizing and harmonic analyses.
• Edit electrical specifications and select/schedule equipment.
• Coordinate with vendors to determine specification requirements.
• Distribute project correspondence and prepare meeting minutes.
• Schedule in‑house discipline meetings and oversee client deliverables.
• Encourage coordination between engineering disciplines.
• Develop discipline‑specific manpower plans and support the Project Manager.

Requirements

We are seeking a remote Electrical Designer/Engineer for the East Coast U.S. to design future‑focused projects and work within a supportive, collaborative culture.

• Utilize engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts in discipline tasks.
• Apply NEC and other applicable codes; understand emergency and normal power systems.
• Utilize knowledge of lighting, photometric data and lighting controls.
• Understand and apply circuit breaker coordination principles.
• 2+ years experience in electrical design for rail/transit and building projects.
• Thorough knowledge of NEC and building codes.
• Experience with SKM Power Tools or similar software for engineering calculations (preferred).
• Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• EIT certification preferred.

Benefits

The position offers a salary range of $90,000–$110,000, adjusted for skills, experience and location. Full‑time employees receive health insurance, vacation time and a 401(k) retirement plan.
