The Fleet Technician position involves performing maintenance and repairs on a variety of company‑owned vehicles, including sedans, light, medium and heavy trucks, trailers, and heavy work equipment. Employees may also be assigned miscellaneous related tasks as needed.
Core duties include servicing and repairing boom and pedestal assemblies, hydraulic systems, heating, ventilation and air‑conditioning units, winch assemblies, steering components, air and hydraulic/electric braking systems, differentials, transmission assemblies, and fuel and exhaust systems. The role also requires assisting colleagues in diagnosing complex problems and operating company vehicles as part of daily tasks.
Additional responsibilities involve maintaining tools and the work area in a clean, orderly condition, keeping accurate service records and reports, attending and providing training, performing less‑skilled work when assigned, reporting irregularities, and directing the work of assigned personnel.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of automotive mechanical diagnosis experience with diesel and hydraulic systems. A valid state driver’s license is required, along with the ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months, Fluid Power Society certification, and two ASE certifications within 24 months, as well as passing the Tuff Tech pre‑employment test.
The position demands physical work at heights, frequent use of hand tools, the ability to lift up to 100 lb, and work in awkward or overhead positions. Employees may need to travel 80‑100 % of the time for transmission support and may be required to work shifts.
