Building a BESS dispatch prediction tool to understand how future BESS will likely play in the Balancing Mechanism and Frequency Response markets, helping NESO to consider market stacking behaviour in their construction planning assumptions.
Developing AI decision making systems
Building AI tools to automatically extract data and quantitative insights from local area energy plans, regional energy strategies and national strategies. Using uncertain data to build statistical forecasting tools for future demand and system change
Helping NESO to improve the Least Worst Regret decision making process for the Centralised Strategic Network Plan (CSNP). We worked with a team of academics to build a new decision-making framework that incorporates Bayesian statistics into investment decision making.

Developing a resilience modelling capability to understand the impact to electricity and gas consumers during shock events. Working with UK government, system operator and DNOs to build decision support tools for future investments to build system resilience.
Using electricity system simulation tools, such as PyPSA, to develop Fractal Flow, technology to improve visibility between operators at different scales of the GB electricity system, helping to optimise control of distributed resources.
