Data Center- MEP Specialist

Description

The MEP Specialist leads the coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades on major construction projects, working closely with the project team to ensure successful completion of all MEP work.

• Develop detailed CPM schedules for MEP installation, including cost and resource loading.
• Create plans for MEP system start‑up and commissioning with the project team.
• Conduct site visits to assess subcontractor quality, identify deficiencies, and resolve issues; review change order pricing.
• Coordinate materials procurement and activities with the Project Manager and field staff, and prepare progress reports.
• Facilitate 3‑D coordination to resolve conflicts before installation.
• Manage commissioning documentation (pre‑functional, start‑up, functional test) with the assigned CxA.
• Lead MEP subcontractors from groundbreaking through commissioning and turnover.
• Provide warranty support and develop resolution plans for open items.
• Represent Sundt Construction at weekly owner and contractor meetings regarding MEP processes.
• Review MEP submittals for compliance with design criteria and contract, and approve materials/equipment with the Superintendent.
• Occasionally stoop, kneel, or bend.
• Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
• Occasionally climb stairs, ladders, etc.
• Frequently use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects.
• Frequently interact with people during shift.
• Occasionally lift, push, or pull objects.
• May sit, stand, or walk short distances for the entire shift.

Requirements

• 3‑6 years (Step I) or 6‑9 years (Step II) experience in construction/MEP coordination.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred.
• Experience managing MEP subcontracts and subcontractors.
• Knowledge of building, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing codes.
• Understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and low‑voltage systems.
• Step I: ~3 years as a Project Engineer; Step II: 6‑9 years combined Project Engineer and Superintendent experience on large‑scale projects.
• In‑depth knowledge of LEED commissioning credits (Fundamental and Enhanced).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Primavera P6.
• Must wear required personal protective equipment (e.g., steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hard hat).
• Frequently reach above shoulder height and below waist.
• Limited use of telephone, computer, email, or other electronic devices for communication.
