Substation Engineer I

Description

• Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, cost estimates, specifications, evaluations, and requisitions.
• Control and relaying panel layouts, specifications, and wiring diagrams
• Support field work as needed, including potential travel to project sites.
• Relay settings and calculations
• Develop familiarity with company standards, QA/QC processes, safety protocols, and document control systems.
• Assist in preparing and developing engineering deliverables for substation projects, including:
• Apply basic engineering principles in one or more areas, including:
• Bill of materials preparation.
• Ensure complete and accurate record-keeping and uphold the quality of all work performed.

Requirements

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Substation Automation & Power Systems Analysis
• 0-2 years of relevant engineering experience in power systems, substations, or related fields.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Schematics and wiring diagrams
• Willingness to travel for site visits, as needed.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as NESC, IEEE, and ANSI.
• Civil, Communications, Computer, and Mechanical Engineering (as applicable)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited program.
• Basic knowledge of relay protection and control systems, substation design, and power system analysis.
• SCADA system and communications interfaces (RTUs, HMIs, IEDs)
