The role is a heavy‑travel position, requiring 3‑4 months of travel per assignment across eastern or western regions. As a Certified Trainee/Apprentice, you will attend the Connecticut‑based Sperry School of Rail Flaw Detection, receive advanced curricula, and work toward promotion to Certified Professional Operator in the non‑destructive testing industry. After certification you will operate your own testing platform or crew, applying learned detection modes, techniques, and safety protocols in the field.
- Understand Sperry’s technologies and interfaces.
- Gain knowledge of mechanical and system set‑up and repair.
- Hold a high school diploma or GED.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Know basic computer programs.
- Multitask and use tools effectively.
- Demonstrate strong organization and problem‑solving skills.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Pass background check, drug screen, and DOT physical examination.
- Have prior NDT training; ultrasonic or railroad background is a plus.
- Be mechanically proficient with automotive or technical systems.
