Key aspects of the role include managing multiple noise projects, maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of local, state, and federal noise regulations, and serving as the primary technical contact for clients and agencies. - Oversee multiple environmental noise projects, managing scope, timelines, budgets, and client/regulatory deliverables.
- Lead acoustical studies: field monitoring, data analysis, and modeling using tools such as CadnaA, SoundPLAN, RCNM, or FHWA models.
- Develop mitigation measures and technical documentation for EIRs and CEQA/NEPA reports.
- Perform and review computer‑based noise modeling and ambient noise monitoring with precision sound meters.
- Review technical deliverables for accuracy, clarity, and regulatory compliance; mentor junior analysts.
- Serve as primary technical contact for clients, agencies, and project teams; present findings and compliance strategies.
- Contribute to proposal writing and business development for acoustical and technical service projects.
- Maintain current knowledge of local, state, and federal noise regulations and emerging methodologies; advise on policy and permitting.
- Support team member growth through mentoring and knowledge sharing; improve department standards and workflows.

The Senior Noise Specialist will join EPD’s Technical Services team to lead noise analysis, modeling, and mitigation for environmental and development projects. The ideal candidate brings 5–10 years of experience preparing and managing acoustical impact analyses under CEQA and related regulations, and will oversee technical report development, guide project teams, and ensure quality control. Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills are essential for success.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental/Acoustical/Structural Engineering or related field.
- Possess 5‑10 years of experience in noise analysis, modeling, and reporting; proficient with CadnaA, SoundPLAN, RCNM, FHWA TNM.
- Demonstrated proficiency with noise monitoring equipment and familiarity with CEQA/NEPA documentation.
- Preferred experience with air‑quality models (CalEEMod, EMFAC, AERMOD/AERSCREEN) and INCE Board Certified Acoustical Control Engineer certification.
- Strong technical writing, analytical, communication, and multi‑project management skills.
