Designs and manufactures power and propulsion systems for aerospace, marine, defence and energy sectors.
The role will involve occasional travel to the Submarine Development Agency in Bristol and to Naval Base Clyde and Devonport. You will bring an industrial perspective to address issues that limit submarine availability and affect the lived experience of submariners, with the freedom to apply your skills across the wider Defence sector after an initial support period.
An engineering or technical background is preferred, but the key attributes are an inquisitive mind and a drive to make a difference. Previous Rolls‑Royce secondees have built a strong reputation for insight and delivery, and you will be expected to uphold and extend that esteem within the customer organisation.
You will be assigned technical improvement projects by the FMEO, working largely independently while collaborating with stakeholders across the MOD and industry. Success will depend on your technical understanding, project‑management skills, and interpersonal savvy to drive rapid change in an environment where transformation previously took months or years.
The ideal candidate has a technical or manufacturing background, awareness of project‑management methodologies, demonstrated ability to influence at various levels, and a passion for the work of Rolls‑Royce Submarines and the Royal Navy. Experience in transformation or operational turnaround is preferred, and you must hold (or be able to obtain) a Security Check clearance and be a UK national or MoD‑approved dual national.
In return, you will receive a relocation package while in role, gain unique insight into the Royal Navy’s operating model, and develop a robust network of sailors and MOD civil servants—valuable assets for a future career with Rolls‑Royce Submarines Ltd.
