As a Compliance Manager at HS2 you will be responsible for assuring all commitment compliance activities, managing the lifecycle of processes for Undertakings and Assurances (U&As), and collaborating with internal teams and the supply chain to ensure compliance.
You will lead the development of compliance plans, ensure evidence is recorded, provide instruction to minimise risk, conduct assurance checks and audits, manage non‑compliance processes, contribute to reporting, and coordinate dispute resolution while maintaining a risk‑based approach across HS2 and its partners.
The role requires strong monitoring, reporting and compliance delivery skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly. Proficiency with Microsoft applications and preferably DOORS, knowledge of ISO 9001 auditing principles, and an understanding of risk methodology are essential.
Candidates should have experience in high‑quality compliance management and reporting, providing organisational counsel, working in political or regulated environments, and project management at manager level. Conflict management, problem solving and effective time management are also needed.
The post‑holder must embody HS2’s values of Safety, Leadership, Integrity and Respect and actively promote Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. HS2 does not hold a sponsorship licence; applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.
Applications are assessed primarily on CV content, which is anonymised to reduce bias. Offers are subject to pre‑employment checks. HS2 is the UK’s new high‑speed rail network, aiming to boost the economy, create jobs, and foster a safe, inclusive, and diverse workforce.
The role is based in Birmingham with a base salary ranging from £41,092 to around £48,344 per annum, dependent on skills and experience. In addition, a flexible benefits fund of 15% of base salary is provided, fully pensionable, alongside a range of competitive benefits.
HS2 Ltd is committed to an inclusive workplace where staff feel supported to thrive and reach their full potential. This includes making reasonable adjustments, offering flexible working, encouraging staff networks, and providing personal and professional development opportunities.
