While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.
Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements.
Prepare submittals and material lists.
Ensure all drawings comply with relevant codes and standards, such as NFPA 72, California Fire Code and local authority regulations.
Perform quality checks on your work to identify and correct any errors.
Remain updated on advancements in fire alarm technology and regulations to ensure compliance and optimal system performance.

Familiarity with industry codes and standards (e.g., NFPA 72) is a significant plus.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, specifications, manufacturers manuals, and codes to produce designs and submittals to be reviewed by local officials.
Knowledge of fire alarm systems and their components is highly preferred.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Possess professional business communications skills, both written and oral.
Be able to develop and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and accomplish tasks in a timely and safe manner.
Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
The work also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions: balancing, climbing, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.
NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level II minimum preferred).
Proficiency in AutoCAD is a must, minimum of one year.
Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical plans.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Must have good communication and organization skills.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Proven experience as a CAD Drafter, with a strong focus on electrical or low-voltage systems preferred.
