Senior Manager, Project Engineering

Description

The Senior Manager, Project Engineering will be responsible for managing a small team of engineers that provides technical oversite for PV and BESS projects. The responsibilities include both development and construction project lifecycle responsibilities ranging from technical studies, EOR design management, compile and update EPC Agreement scope of work documents, review design drawings, enforce commissioning requirements, responding to technical RFI, and communicate with counterparties and internal stakeholders. The role requires detailed analysis and interpretation of civil, structural, and electrical Prudent Industry Practices.

• Review and respond to technical RFI responses throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide accurate and timely engineering budget estimates for time and costs to sales or management based on available project information, knowledge, and preliminary calculations.
• Collaborate with engineering, development, estimating, and construction staff to document and develop company best practices and design standards.
• Perform due diligence on project documentation, then catalog and communicate fatal flaws to management based on site development studies.
• Manage EOR during the design phase of the project lifecycle.
• Accurately performs and/or manages the review of electrical, civil, and structural design and supporting calculations and studies in accordance with applicable codes.
• Review civil, structural, and electrical scope for use Request for Proposal (RFP) package submittals.
• Verify development studies with on-site investigations
• Manage and lead engineering team that reviews the PV, BESS, and HV designs of utility scale projects. This includes close coordination with civil, structural, and electrical Owners & Independent Engineer to ensure a comprehensive design package for Arevon.
• Manage the EPC during the construction phase of PV & BESS large-scale projects including array orientation, tilt, spacing, height, collector system design and performance calculations.

Requirements

• Familiarity with NERC and CIP standards.
• Professional Engineering Registration (PE)
• 8+ years of hands-on experience as an engineer working with solar, BESS, or another related industry required.
• Electrical testing and field commissioning experience.
• 3+ years of management experience.
• Knowledge of engineering and renewable energy systems; solar PV systems including SCADA and monitoring systems, and BESS.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, required in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil disciplines.
• Demonstrated knowledge of AutoCAD design, ETAP or similar, CYMCAP or similar, PVsyst or similar, WinIGS or similar.
• Able and willing to travel to construction sites.
• Advanced computer skills in MS Office, MS Windows, and project controls.
• Knowledge of site production & design calculations, plan preparation; site collector system calculations & report writing.
• Strong knowledge of applicable codes, standards, such as NESC, ASCE, ASME, ASTM, NEC, ANSI, IEEE.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, highly motivated and results oriented, process oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
• Knowledgeable in physical substation design methods and their application.
