Rigger

Description

• Direct workers verbally or with signals during hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety.
• Test rigging setups for safety and reliability.
• Attach loads using hand and power tools, selecting appropriate gear such as slings, shackles, and winches based on weight and schedule.
• Control movement of heavy equipment through confined spaces using chain falls, gin poles, gallows frames, and similar equipment.
• Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support heavy materials.
• Clean and dress machine surfaces and component parts.
• Install pulleys and blocks on overhead structures with bolts and clamps.
• Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
• Use proper rigging apparatus and techniques for safe lifting.
• Work in adverse weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and wind.
• Promote safety on all jobs, influence personnel, support JSAs, and attend safety meetings and training.
• Participate in equipment audits, identify sub‑standard acts and near misses, and assist in incident investigations.
• Comply with STOP Observations and Near Miss programs.
• Travel extensively, including international and domestic assignments; work holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.
• Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, telehandlers, scissor lifts, cherry pickers, tractors, and similar equipment.

Requirements

Riggers are highly specialized workers who move and lift loads that ordinary material‑handling equipment cannot handle, using equipment designed for weights up to millions of pounds. Under the direction of a crew chief or field supervisor, they install and maintain power‑plant and oilfield equipment, and may take on additional duties to advance FieldCore’s vision and core values.

• Tilt, dip, and turn suspended loads with multi‑point suspension techniques to navigate obstacles.
• Hold a High School Diploma and related mechanical experience (carpentry, lifts, cranes, etc.).
• Demonstrate advanced skills in the specialized field and the ability to perform all job requirements.
• Possess Rigger/Auxiliary Moving & Material Handling Equipment certifications (desired).
• Have experience with power generation (gas/steam turbines) and associated auxiliary equipment.
• Know correct rigging tackle, specific shackles, beam clamps, and color codes for slings and wires.
• Understand safe systems of work, method statements, and approved rigging studies.
