Working with planners and architects to perform multi-physics environmental modelling to optimise land use and urban design plans for enhanced sustainability and liveability. This involves applying Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for wind flow, thermal comfort and pollutant dispersion modelling, acoustic simulation for transportation noise modelling and other relevant environmental factors to create more comfortable and liveable urban spaces..
Partnering policymakers in studying and putting in place the required enablers to scale up the use of robust Environmental M&S (e.g. establishment of technical review and verification processes for thermal comfort modelling methodologies, as well as performance criteria for Environmental M&S studies).
Facilitate the implementation of an island-wide wind sensor network strategy with partners from agencies and Institutes of Higher Learning to collect required environmental data to validate/refine M&S methodologies.

Overview
Founded in 1974
Year of establishment
The year URA was established under the Ministry of National Development.
55 Planning Areas
Land Use Management
Number of planning areas where URA dictates land use.
7,000 Buildings
Conservation Efforts
Number of buildings conserved since the Conservation Master Plan of 1989.
6.5 Ha Sold
Land Sale Record
Record-breaking land sale in Jurong Lake District in 2023.
As the national development regulator, it approves projects, manages land sales, and shapes urban design for iconic zones like Marina Bay and Orchard Road.
It drives major precincts like Jurong Lake and Punggol Digital District, weaving mixed-use, walkable hubs with commercial, residential and lifestyle appeal.
It manages public car parks, runs the Singapore City Gallery, and licenses underground infrastructure use.
Through architectural competitions and landmark site policies, it encourages standout, futuristic buildings like Singapore’s soon-to-be-tallest at 8 Shenton Way.
It merges smart-city tech with physical design to future-proof the city using data-driven digital planning tools and AI.
