The OSP (Outside Plant) Engineer II designs and develops mid-level outside plant equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades. This role involves creating cost-effective site and construction drawings, preparing permit documentation, and ensuring compliance with codes and standards. The engineer reports daily work status to management and contributes to team training.
- Design telecom distribution projects (underground, new facilities, highway relocations).
- Prepare site and construction drawings cost-effectively.
- Produce permit drawings as needed.
- Document changes and modifications to customer specifications.
- Interpret codes, standards, and guidelines for project completion.
- Review engineering drawings and assist with layout/design for construction.
- Communicate daily work status updates to management.
- Perform self-checks and quality control for completeness and client standards.
- Assist in training other OSP engineering team members.
- Represent TrueNet with professional conduct and appearance.

The position requires frequent walking, standing, and sitting, with the ability to remain seated for extended periods. Work may be performed in the field, office, or remotely, and involves regular interaction with colleagues and clients using computers and standard office equipment.

- High School diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years OSP design experience.
- Required IQGeo experience.
- Intermediate knowledge of telecommunications standards and practices.
- Experience designing copper and fiber optic OSP (aerial, underground, direct-buried).
- Understanding of outside plant construction techniques.
- Ability to read highway/road prints.
- Knowledge of easements, right-of-way, and permit documents.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks accurately and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Must pass drug screen and criminal background check.
- Frequent walking, standing, and sitting; ability to sit for extended periods.
- Daily verbal and face-to-face interaction; regular computer use and office equipment.
