
The Woodshop Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for managing a team of cabinetmaking/carpentry professionals while ensuring the efficient operation of the woodshop. This role combines technical expertise in cabinetmaking/carpentry with strong supervisory skills to guide, support, and develop team members, drive operational excellence, and maintain the highest standards of quality craftsmanship and safety. The position will work closely with the Director and design/construction/teaching team to plan, fabricate, and install projects for commissioned work, as well as at The Assembly House site.
Lead, mentor, and supervise woodshop personnel, providing coaching and support/foster performance and productivity.
Oversee the quality and timeliness of project construction through all stages.
Train team members on new work methods, safety protocols, construction codes, policies; keep the team updated on industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
Collaborate with other contractors and stakeholders when required
Develop and manage plans and specifications for a wide range of carpentry/cabinetmaking projects, prepare and manage project budgets, and set and manage project schedules and workflow
Strives for excellence in construction, superior knowledge of craft, and attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with employees, stakeholders, and management
Ability to organize large projects and manage a project from start to finish
Ability to adapt to change, identify areas for improvement, and develop action plans to address challenges.
Minimum 5 years of experience in construction management
5-10 years of experience in wood frame construction, restoration carpentry and/or cabinetmaking, including at least two years in a supervisory role
In-depth knowledge of carpentry tools, equipment, and materials, including cabinetmaking and advanced woodworking techniques.
Knowledge of safety regulations, construction codes, industry standards, and best practices.
BenefitsSalary range is $55,000 - $60,000 annually. Please note that although compensation is based on a 40-hour work week structure, AH150’s work week is typically 35 hours of work per week.
