The Helper position supports journeymen in planning, laying out, installing, testing, and repairing construction‑related systems and components. The role requires adherence to plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards across all project phases from concept to operations.
Key responsibilities include interpreting measuring tools and plant drawings, performing pipe threading, beveling, cutting, and installation of various pipe types, and using hand and power tools to fit and assemble components. The helper must install valves and fittings, produce quality work, conduct daily safety checks, coordinate material movement with crews, and follow direction from foremen while working under schedule pressure.
Applicants need 2–3 years of related experience or equivalent training, a high school diploma or GED (preferred), and basic knowledge of construction processes. Required skills include familiarity with MIC Health and Safety programs, basic math and scale reading, 3‑D visualization, and the ability to work safely under pressure and within timelines.
The role demands physical stamina for up to 12‑hour shifts, including lifting objects up to 50 lb, working at heights, and operating in varied weather and site conditions while wearing required personal protective equipment.
