The Gas Utility Leadman reports to the crew Foreman and plays a key role in leading the crew through gas line installation and repair while maintaining strict safety and quality standards. The role embraces a "One Team" philosophy, requiring both leadership by example and hands‑on labor to keep projects on schedule.
Key responsibilities include assisting in planning, coordinating, and supervising daily crew tasks, submitting daily activity reports, managing work sequences to meet customer schedules, and complying with industry and customer procedures. In the Foreman's absence, the Leadman steps in to keep the crew operational, maintains required Operator Qualifications (EWN and/or NGA), and performs additional tasks as requested by leadership.
Candidates must hold a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and at least one year of experience in the gas utility industry. Operator qualifications such as EWN and/or NGA are required.
Work is performed outdoors in potentially extreme weather, with safety instructions delivered in English. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lb, standing, climbing, kneeling, and working in the “red zone” of heavy equipment, requiring quick hand‑eye coordination and constant alertness.
Legal requirements include passing pre‑employment, random, post‑accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens, providing valid US work authorization for E‑Verify, a clean driving record, a satisfactory background check, a DOT medical fit‑for‑duty test, and maintaining Union membership.
