- Perform engineering calculations for power distribution projects.
- Replace aging poles to improve system reliability.
- Design and upgrade power distribution infrastructure.
- Conduct structural analysis of poles and other infrastructure.
- Reconductoring of existing distribution lines.
- Coordinate with protective systems and ensure compliance with utility standards.
- Move overhead lines to underground as part of storm hardening efforts.

- Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.
- Experience on the Duke system for distribution design.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical) from an ABET-Accredited College or University.
- EIT certification or passed Engineering Fundamentals Exam.
- Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivation.
- Ability to use design software packages such as AutoCAD, BOUD, and Bentley Open Utility Designer.
- Current knowledge of Maximo, Smallworld, and Microstation.
- Experience or basic knowledge in electric utility industry concepts, including primary and secondary distribution systems.
- Leadership and/or customer interaction experience in a different industry.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
