Electric Operations ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable, and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. The team maintains 100,000 miles of distribution lines and over 18,000 miles of transmission lines, applies Lean methodology with visual management, and comprises approximately 6,500 coworkers.
- Co‑lead complex solicitations and origination of natural gas pipeline and storage agreements in the U.S. and Canada.
- Manage negotiations of terms and conditions for pipeline and storage contracts.
- Build and maintain relationships with regulators, industry experts, and stakeholders to advocate company policy.
- Represent PG&E as a subject‑matter expert in public forums and regulatory hearings.
- Lead development, advocacy, and resolution of policy issues with state, provincial, and federal regulators that have significant customer or financial impact.
- Direct interdepartmental teams in preparing applications, filings, testimony, and work papers for regulatory proceedings.
- Support and prepare expert witnesses and may provide testimony as an intervenor or expert.
- Conduct complex policy, regulatory, and strategic analysis, distilling large data sets into persuasive arguments.

Travel requirements are limited to less than 20% of the time.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, public policy, finance, engineering or related field, or equivalent utility experience.
- Minimum of five years of relevant work experience.
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience in regulatory, analytical, communications, or public affairs roles, preferably in the natural gas industry.
- Subject‑matter expertise on gas procurement needs, competitive position, and relevant regulations.
- Ability to understand and negotiate contract provisions and settlement terms.
- Skill in synthesizing complex data into clear verbal or written presentations for diverse audiences.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal abilities to build stakeholder relationships.
- Proven capability to anticipate and resolve complex issues with minimal supervision.
- Experience providing direction, training, and mentorship to junior regulatory analysts.
Benefits
The position has a flexible headquarters location within the PG&E service territory and follows a hybrid schedule, expecting the employee to be in the office three days per week, subject to change based on business needs.
Compensation is offered as a salary range specific to the job locality: Bay Area $126,000–$200,000 or California $120,000–$190,000. Actual salary will be determined by factors such as skills, education, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
