We are looking for a proactive engineer to improve the reliability and performance of Southern Water’s assets through route‑based condition monitoring and fixed sensors, ensuring efficient and sustainable operation.
Key duties include executing condition‑based monitoring techniques such as thermography, vibration analysis, ultrasound emission and oil analysis, reporting findings via the asset management platform, analysing data to produce corrective maintenance plans, conducting root‑cause analysis on complex failures, and continuously refining monitoring processes.
The CBM Engineer (Route‑Based) position is a permanent full‑time role offering up to £48,000 depending on experience, with a 37‑hour work week. The role requires travelling to various Hampshire sites or working from an office, and a valid driving licence is essential; a company van and tools are provided.
Successful candidates will have strong experience in analysing, designing, operating or managing assets, excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines, and a logical, analytical mindset complemented by a collaborative and flexible approach.
Technical expertise should cover vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasonic testing and oil analysis, with familiarity in reliability methods like RCM and FMECA, predictive maintenance strategies, and an understanding of predictive analytics, machine learning and failure prediction models; wastewater knowledge is desirable.
The role requires awareness of risk identification and resolution planning, as well as knowledge of statutory compliance standards. Preferred qualifications include ISO 18436‑accredited training in vibration analysis, infrared imaging, ultrasonic testing and oil analysis, while candidates with an ONC or OND in engineering or equivalent experience are also considered, and training will be provided if needed.
