The Role

Overview

Leads a 15‑18 person dispatch team, oversees deliveries, fleet upkeep, and customer coordination.

Tasks

-Maintain vehicle maintenance and records with a maintenance management service -Prepare shipment documents, permits, certifications and corresponding backup information for each shipment -Review and research new and existing transportation vendors; programs to reduce, replace and improve upon transportation costs -Responsible for training and development of all shipping department personnel -Coaches and develops team members in the performance of their duties and completes periodic reviews. -Supports Safety and continuous improvement program by actively guiding team in hazardous risk identification, action, and reduction -Manages all outside haulers, coordinates with loading crew for next day deliveries -Ensures safety practices are being enforced, including load securement -Proactively communicate with customer their job status and product delivery schedule -Coordinate daily delivery schedules based on sales request for product and product availability -Work with yard crew for loading sequence and yard layout -Resolves production schedule conflicts prior to shipment, ensuring on-time, error-free shipment and invoicing -Handle large volumes of phone calls/e-mails in a timely manner while making accurate and precise decisions regarding prioritizing shipment pickups, deliveries, maintenance, etc.

What You Bring

-Ability to effectively manage time and resource -Previous precast concrete experience a plus -Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing -Proficient in Microsoft Office/Excel, Word, Outlook programs -Understanding of safety and transportation requirements -High School Diploma required, Associates or Bachelors preferred -Willing to work flexible, and extended hours, if needed -Familiarity with the construction business -Demonstrated written / oral communication skills -2+ year of dispatch experience -Experience with DOT compliance -Demonstrated critical thinking skills for complex problem solving -Ability to respectfully interface with peers
