Experienced Shipboard IT (SBIT) Specialist (Navy Network Laboratory Administrator)

Description

• Develop and maintain detailed documentation including procedures, system diagrams, and configuration records in compliance with quality requirements.
• Develop and justify estimates to support budgeting for network upgrades and improvements multiple years in advance.
• Support implementation and documentation of cybersecurity compliance with government requirements.
• Perform regular network maintenance and upgrades including patches, service packs, and security configurations.
• Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
• Perform project oversight and follow of supplier design, supplier testing, and supplier procedure development.
• Research and prepare written technical recommendations on network hardware and software products to support the network facility.
• Develop system design and performance specifications, test requirements, and security implementation of network and communication hardware and software.
• Review, verify, and approve supplier design submittals including procedures for installation, operations, and troubleshooting of network hardware and software products.
• Perform daily administration of the network facility:
• Configuration and use of network firewalls

Requirements

• Working knowledge of cybersecurity compliance
• Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
• Virtualization (VMWare)
• Six (6) or more years of relevant experience.
• Experience with any of the following is preferred:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology or closely related degree from an accredited college or university.
• Fourteen (14) or more years of completed education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years of experience requirements.
• Network communication architecture
• Demonstrated ability of effective written and oral communication skills and creative problem-solving capabilities is strongly desired.
• Communicate extensively internally as well as with external customer and supplier personnel.
• Knowledge of network hardware
