MPC Team Lead- Darien 1st Shift

Description

Reporting to the MPC Group Leader, the MPC Team Leader is responsible for directing daily work activities to achieve company metrics. This role includes training and mentoring an integrated Materials Team, ensuring safe equipment operation, leading shop‑floor problem‑solving, managing quality investigations, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

• Train, coach, and mentor the Materials Team, establishing performance standards and aligning with PSI’s IMPACT values.
• Direct safe operation of overhead cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment in compliance with OSHA regulations.
• Lead daily shop‑floor problem‑solving sessions, facilitating Kaizen, Blue Card, and Built‑In‑Quality activities.
• Collaborate with Core Team Leaders and Industrial Engineering to create and update Standardized Work documentation and Operator Certification charts.
• Investigate quality issues, lead containment actions, and implement initial and permanent corrective actions.
• Conduct daily Process Verification Audits and pre‑trip inspections to ensure equipment readiness.
• Record production data in Epicor and maintain material flow using the Kanban system.
• Partner with the Lean Coordinator or Manufacturing Engineering to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform material handling tasks, including lifting up to 40 lb and coordinating team lifts for heavier items.
• Follow all safety procedures, use personal protective equipment, and properly dispose of waste.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Engineering preferred; high school diploma/GED acceptable with relevant experience.
• Ability to apply math (fractions, ratios, measurements) and interpret manuals/diagrams.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools such as Kaizen, Business Plan Deployment, and Standardized Work.
• Proven experience operating or training others on cranes, lift trucks, and warehouse equipment in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Skilled in creating standardized work documents, forms, and visual standards.
• Effective presenter with ability to address managers and peers.
• Strong command of English; bilingual Spanish is a plus.
