The role involves safely operating, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining company-owned or leased heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment, including rolling stock, to ensure safe operation. Starting pay is up to $40 per hour, based on experience and qualifications, with a shift from 1:45 pm to 12/12:30 am Monday‑Friday and overtime after 40 hours. Benefits include 15 days paid time off, a $150 monthly tool allowance, annual boot reimbursement, overtime pay, 401(k) after six months, and health benefits after 60 days.
This is a boots‑on‑the‑ground, tool‑in‑hand position that requires diagnosing and repairing operational issues on heavy-duty diesel trucks, CNG, gas, and electrically operated equipment, completing reports and work orders, and planning repairs in the M5 planner while procuring parts. The technician must maintain a clean work area, adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, and use a variety of power and hand tools.
Applicants need a high school diploma or GED (technical diploma preferred), at least one year of diesel mechanic experience, and basic computer literacy with willingness to learn diagnostic software. They must meet safety‑sensitive criteria and possess strong communication, independent work, and record‑keeping abilities, as well as physical capability to handle the job’s demands.
Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting up to 100 pounds, and continuous mental and visual attention in environments with loud noise, temperature extremes, vibration, and exposure to chemicals. The role may also involve working at heights and in precarious locations.
