• Conduct transportation impact studies
• Plan bicycle and pedestrian facilities
• Perform access, circulation, and parking studies
• Assess multimodal operations
• Develop complete streets planning, operations, and design
• Prepare cost estimates and project specifications
• Generate transit forecasting and operations analyses
• Forecast travel behavior and vehicle miles traveled (VMT)
• Execute systemic safety studies
• Analyze highway interchange and corridor designs
• Create climate action plans
• Develop freight planning strategies
• Produce transportation demand management (TDM) plans
• Produce design drawings from conceptual to construction‑ready stage (e.g., bikeways, signing, traffic signals, lighting, roundabouts, temporary traffic control)
• Conduct transportation analysis and write reports
• Prepare presentations and public outreach materials for meetings
• Manage project tasks and timelines
• Conduct site visits and collect field data
• Explore internal research and development initiatives
• Attend client meetings and increase responsibility for small project management
• Develop technical writing and public speaking skills
• Maintain organizational skills to balance multiple tasks within deadlines

Requirements

Our entry‑level Transportation Engineers and Planners receive a broad foundation of project management and technical skills, gaining experience across both planning and engineering tasks. They work on a variety of project types—from impact studies and multimodal assessments to complete‑streets design and climate‑action plans—providing a strong platform for career growth.

• Demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and proactive communication
• Hold a bachelor's or in‑process master's degree in transportation, civil/electrical engineering, urban planning, or related field
• Complete coursework in transportation, engineering, planning, geography, math, statistics, or economics
• Use software such as Excel, GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS), CAD (AutoCAD/MicroStation), HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, Vistro, VISSIM, Sidra, Cube/Voyager, TransCAD, VISUM, Emme, Python, or R
• Possess previous office experience related to transportation topics
• Exhibit strong interpersonal, collaborative, and creative problem‑solving abilities
