Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Technical Director will work with other Discipline Technical Directors and Heads of Services to define consistent, efficient ways of delivering electrical engineering design across all 20 design offices. This group‑wide role includes responsibility for leadership, governance, troubleshooting, and establishing best‑practice ways of working that support safe and high‑quality project delivery.
Key duties involve developing a strategic roadmap for electrical engineering capability, supporting business units with competency and training plans, and fostering specialist areas such as sustainability. The role also leads digital transformation of engineering processes, standardises group‑wide procedures, and participates in sales proposals, project watch‑lists, and single‑discipline design reviews. In critical situations, the Technical Director acts as the first responder and technical sponsor for corrective actions.
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, has at least 15 years of industry experience with a minimum of 10 years in senior management, and possesses strong knowledge of life‑science and data‑centre environments. Membership of a recognized professional engineering body, excellent technical and commercial acumen, and superior communication and collaboration skills are essential. Fluency in English and a proactive, decision‑making attitude are also required.
