The Control Room Operations Lead reports to the Operations Manager and is accountable for the leadership, development, welfare, and performance of a team of Control Room Operators and Communication Controllers. The role ensures the team operates efficiently to support the overall transit system.
In this role you will guarantee that staffing levels are consistently met, oversee competency development and performance assessments, and manage attendance and disciplinary actions while promoting a safe, inclusive working environment. You will also coordinate start‑of‑shift briefings and supervise daily operational activities.
You will be responsible for maintaining on‑time train service through adherence to schedules, implementing alternate service plans during disruptions, and directing emergency response efforts, including providing timely updates to senior management. Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders will be essential during major events.
Post‑incident responsibilities include preparing detailed reports, participating in investigations, conducting shift briefings, and facilitating safe‑work planning meetings for both day and night shifts. You will also ensure equipment faults are reported and work orders generated promptly.
The position requires at least five years of experience in railway operations and control‑room settings, supervisory experience, a high school diploma, excellent English communication skills, and the ability to analyze technical information and make calm decisions under pressure. Candidates must be able to pass company aptitude and medical screenings and work rotating shifts in a 24/7 environment.
Preferred qualifications include strong customer service abilities, knowledge of a relevant foreign language, experience with radio or public address systems, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and previous work in regulated or safety‑critical environments. Experience in emergency operations or scheduling is also valued.
