As Principal Electrical Engineer - Queensland, you'll set up the Queensland operation, drive client relationships, and lead building-services electrical design across new build and Capex projects ranging from ~$500 k to ~$160 M.
Building out the local team: hiring, mentoring and developing a team of engineers and drafters, embedding the national firm's systems and culture locally.
Managing financials and P&L: budget forecasting, cost management, margin oversight - even if you haven't done it before, you'll have support and expectation to move into that space.
Leveraging your own client relationships (or building new ones) to generate work rapidly.
Leading project delivery: from proposal and concept design, through documentation, tender, and construction phases - hands-on when required and mentoring others as you build your team.
Developing and executing the Queensland business strategy for electrical building services (lighting, power distribution, LV/ELV systems, building automation, etc).
Collaborating with the Perth-based technical/drafting team for support, while setting up your local footprint (home or coworking initially, moving towards dedicated office as team grows).

Pathway to directorship and equity within 2 years based on performance.
Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) certification mandatory.
Solid building-services background: preferably in Tier 2/3 engineering consultancy, where relationships drove the work rather than just brand.
Comfortable working independently, taking initiative, making decisions, and building something from scratch.
Existing Queensland (Brisbane/regional) client base or very strong local network in building services electrical.
