The Heat Treat Operator on the 3rd shift (11 pm‑7 am) works in the Decorah, IA manufacturing facility, maintaining high quality standards and meeting production targets for heat‑treated products. Under minimal supervision the operator follows SPC procedures, tests products, completes production prints, and uses all required gauges while keeping scrap and discrepancies within limits.
The role also includes independent operation of heat‑treat equipment, reading blue‑prints, communicating work assignments, making sound decisions, and training new operators. Minor equipment repairs and assistance with major maintenance are performed, along with scheduled preventative maintenance and daily forklift inspections.
Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED, demonstrate teamwork, possess thorough knowledge of SPC and gauge techniques, and have strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities. Familiarity with ISO 14001, IATF 16949 documentation, and good communication and human‑relations skills are essential.
