Lead Superintendent

Description

Gilbane is seeking a Lead Superintendent to independently manage all field operations on a $5 – $50 M project. The role requires daily presence on the job site and serves as a key member of the project team.

• Direct daily coordination of trade contractors and sub‑contractors to meet schedule and quality standards.
• Develop, document, and communicate field work plans and change orders.
• Maintain contract document knowledge to anticipate and resolve issues.
• Ensure all required permits are obtained for construction activities.
• Serve as primary safety representative, enforce safety compliance on‑site.
• Lead regular contractor meetings and produce daily reports using software tools.
• Create and update project schedules, implement contingency plans, and communicate changes.
• Plan and manage job‑site logistics, material ordering, and crew scheduling.
• Develop and oversee the Quality in Construction (QIC) plan with Operations Excellence.
• Train and mentor Field Engineers and Superintendents on project, construction, and business knowledge.
• Support scope writing, buyout processes, and time‑and‑materials tracking.
• Manage performance and workload of direct reports, fostering an inclusive team environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent experience).
• 7–12 years of superintendent experience on $30 M+ commercial/industrial projects.
• OSHA 30‑hour, STS‑C, and First Aid/CPR/AED/Stop the Bleed certifications.
• Strong technical, communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction‑software tools for logistics and scheduling.
• Knowledge of construction documents, drawings, all construction phases, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control.
• Ability to enforce safety plans and promote a “safety first” culture.
