Tasks
-Design assistance with technical evaluations, independent third-party reviews, design walkdowns, system hydraulic calculations, component sizing calculations and HVAC flow balance calculations. -Conduct technical assessments and emergent troubleshooting/engineering to support new build projects and existing operating units. -Perform engineering design and analysis following established Engineering design and change control procedures -Stay current with developments within their field of expertise. -Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution. -Interface effectively with other staff on multi-disciplinary design and technical projects. -Interface with construction/procurement partners and utility stakeholders, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements. -Vendor-interface and preparation of equipment & component specifications to facilitate procurement including selection of nuclear (Class 1/2/3) and conventional (Class 6) valves, flanges, fittings, pumps and heat exchangers. -Piping and process systems design, including preparation of system design specification, flow diagrams, piping isometric drawings -Perform condition and performance assessments of mechanical systems and components. -Develop life cycle plans, including inspection and test programs -Perform Mechanical engineering analysis for new and existing nuclear power plants and designs including small modular and advanced reactors. -Provide field support for design and design modifications, including provision of field engineering.

What You Bring
-Must be able to organize and prioritize assigned work and to coordinate multiple activities efficiently. -Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards including but not limited to CSA N285, ASME Section III, Section VIII and B31.1. ASME Section III Appendix XXIII qualification is considered an asset. -A minimum of 5 years relevant experience is considered necessary -Experience with Small Modular Reactor or Advance Reactor designs is an asset. -Excellent interpersonal skills. -Ability to work under pressure and be team player. -Candidates are expected to have or to pursue attainment of the P.Eng. designation. -Good working knowledge of basic generation plant design/operation related to Nuclear power plants, skid-based designs, or international power projects. -Excellent problem-solving skills. -Knowledge and implementation of nuclear power plants Engineering Change Control process is an asset.. -Good time management skills and demonstrated capability to interface effectively with and gain the trust of customers. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Working knowledge of Nuclear Quality Assurance Standards such as N299 and CSA N286 -A Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) is required.
