The Lead Engineer position is based in Minnetonka, MN and involves managing a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff on water resource projects from planning through design and construction. The role reports to a sector leader or principal and includes marketing and business development activities.
Key duties include delivering professional engineering services such as studies, planning, design, specifications, reports, construction observation, and project management. The Engineer must communicate regularly with clients, supervisors, and team members, attend various meetings, and lead proposal preparation and interview processes to secure work. Independent judgment, coordination with other engineering departments, and adherence to company policies and safety standards are required.
Qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering, a Professional Engineer license (or eligibility within 6‑12 months), and 5‑15 years of experience in water resources and storm‑water management, including construction management. Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and, preferably, AutoCAD/Civil 3D and watershed modeling.
Physical requirements involve typical office ergonomics, as well as outdoor work during construction season that may require standing, walking, and lifting objects up to 50 lb. A valid driver’s license is required, and occasional travel and overtime may be necessary.
