Work includes feasibility studies, system impact studies, reactive compensation studies, critical clearing time, stability (transient & dynamic), long/short range planning studies, short circuit, load flow, interconnection model development, power factor correction, and other related studies.
This individual will be responsible for interfacing with other engineers in the preparation of computer-based models and performing power system studies on utility transmission & distribution systems and industrial/commercial electrical power systems.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Additional desirable software: PSLF, TARA, PSCAD, Aspen Oneliner, ETAP, Power World and others as applicable
Ability to work successfully in a customer-focused, project-oriented environment
Seven to ten (7-10) years of experience in transmission planning studies
MSEE or PhD
Engineer in Training Certification.
Familiarity with additional RTOs regarding interconnection process and system impact studies
Coding experience and automation development
Willing to travel (up to 10% at times)
Familiarity with ERCOT, its interconnection processes, and its system impact study requirements
Experience with leading projects and mentoring others
Five (5) + years experience with PSS/E
This person must be able to self-manage their time and have strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills including the capability to explain complex technical issues at a variety of levels to decision-makers and project teams.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
PE registration (or equivalent)
Minimum three (3) years of experience with PSS/E
5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience in transmission planning
This role requires significant experience in network studies for utilities and ISOs with the ability to lead others in this work as well.
