Structural Detailer

Description

The Structural Detailer will collaborate with project managers and field personnel, ensuring drawings align with customer objectives and industry standards while maintaining accurate records throughout the project lifecycle.

• Develop assembly or layout drawings for large structural steel projects using Tekla Structures.
• Communicate with Project Managers to ensure designs meet customer objectives.
• Submit Requests for Information (RFIs) to resolve design issues.
• Conduct field measurements of existing equipment and building details.
• Attend customer meetings to clarify project direction.
• Revise approval drawings based on customer comments and PM approval.
• Create mechanical, structural, pneumatic, hydraulic, and piping details for shop drawings.
• Issue cutting lists and drawings to the Shop Foreman with proper release forms.
• Provide drawings to field personnel and answer related queries.
• Maintain a record of all shop drawings, marking as‑built changes.
• Issue final steel erection and equipment drawings for project records.
• Prepare concept drawings for quotations.
• Handle design, detail, and coordination for small shop fabrication jobs.

Requirements

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, 3‑5 years of experience with 3D drafting software—preferably Tekla Structures—and a background in detailing structural steel according to AISC and AWS standards.

• Hold a high school diploma or GED.
• Possess 3‑5 years of experience with 3D drafting software, preferably Tekla.
• Have 3‑5 years of experience detailing structural steel.
• Know AISC/AWS drawing and detailing standards.
• Familiar with AWS welding codes D1.1, D1.5, D1.6, and D1.2.
• Basic knowledge of NDE methods (MT, PT, UT, RT) and welding processes (FCAW, GMAW, GMAW‑S, SAW, SMAW).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrate eagerness to learn and grow within industrial construction.
