Select various electrical and electro-mechanical components to meet performance requirements.
Under engineer and more senior designer direction, craft electro-mechanical packaging of industrial control panels and enclosures based on high-level concepts, schematics, and block diagrams using SolidWorks.
Independently develop original designs and interact with engineering and manufacturing personnel to ensure performance and efficiency of manufacturing, assembly, and integration.
Apply creative design skills and CADD practices to the independent and collaborative generation of layout, assembly, and detail schematic and wiring/cabling drawings for electrical and electronic equipment of simple to moderate complexity using Altium Designer.
May interface with customers by email, phone, or presentations.
Applying machine safety systems and standards;
Prepare illustrations for technical electrical-mechanical documentation or design intents.
Prepare engineering drawings, layout and detailed design of mechanical systems using drafting techniques (SolidWorks or SolidWorks Electrical)
Support engineering activity by preparing models for export to engineering analysis/simulation software including merging and meshing of parts and application of load vectors under the direction of an Electrical Engineer, Lead Electrical Engineer or Design Manager.
May perform ship checks and site visits.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, standard specifications.
Minimum 2 years applied drafting experience, preferably in Marine Electrical Design.
Minimum 5 years' experience/proficiency with Dassault Systems SolidWorks solid modeling and electrical design software.
Willingness to learn new software to meet customer’s expectations in electrical design.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Familiarity with Product Lifetime Management (PLM) software.
Formal training in use of solid modeling software (SolidWorks preferred).
Ability to perform basic engineering tasks and conventional design that may be varied in nature.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Candidate will have to perform in an ISO-9000 rated company in a rapidly changing and demanding atmosphere.
Ability to exercise good technical judgment and some independent evaluation, originality and ingenuity.
Experience with Altium Designer electrical CAD schematic capture and PCB layout software.
Self-motivated, focused individual with strong attention to detail and high ethical standards.
Strong organizational skills and analytical / logical approach.
Various data communications signaling, such as Ethernet, USB, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, SPI, I2C, CAN, etc., including their associated media and protocols in high-noise potential environments;
Must be able to work overtime hours as needed.
Experience with technical writing (e.g. writing specs, procedures, white papers, manuals, etc.).
Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
A basic understanding of DSS-SOC and SUBSAFE requirements is preferred.
Wiring, cabling, and grounding design for minimizing electrical noise and EMI, as appropriate
Ability to synthesize diverse information (technical, schedule).
Ability to work as part of team with leads, managers, and technical personnel to support multiple projects.
Associate degree in Electrical Design or related field, or 5 years of relevant work experience.
Working knowledge of U.S. Navy specifications and requirements related to Structural, Mechanical and Electrical drawings.
Programming languages and/or script writing (software); and
Demonstrated understanding of ASME Y14 drafting standards.
