The Security Apprentice installs, inspects, tests, maintains, and repairs security and related life-safety systems, ensuring they operate effectively, meet codes and standards, and satisfy customer requirements.
The role includes troubleshooting system issues, performing preventive maintenance, and providing on-site support and training to clients. Work involves both scheduled service calls and emergency response, with responsibilities such as testing and inspecting equipment, making adjustments, conducting site surveys, and keeping documentation current.
Technicians must report completed work, deferred tasks, and items needing further attention, communicate job status to customers, and submit accurate paperwork and timesheets. They work independently at customer sites with minimal supervision and perform other duties as assigned by management.
Education requirements are a high school diploma or equivalent; technical school training is a plus and no prior experience is required, though construction or hand-tool experience is preferred. A clean driving record, reliable transportation, and the ability to safely operate hand, power, and fleet tools are essential.
The position demands regular standing, walking, climbing, lifting, and other physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, and using hand dexterity, along with adequate visual and auditory acuity.
