IT AV- Telecommunications Technology Design Engineer

Description

The incumbent will serve as a liaison between architects, clients, consultants, and managers from multiple engineering trades to identify, and implement, Information Technology, audiovisual, telecommunication and cabling infrastructure requirements for each individual project.

Requirements

Position Description: We are seeking a Technology Design Engineer who will work on technology planning projects including Telecom, AV & Security. The incumbent will work with clients, manufacturers, design team members and others preparing construction documentation for each project. Experience should include drafting, designing, preparing specifications, and evaluating bid responses for telecommunications and security trades.

• Strong Analytical and quantitative skills, and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinking
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both verbally and in writing.
• Familiarity with AV, Security and BICSI standards required.
• Familiarity with CAD & BIM software including AutoCAD & REVIT
• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited 4-year institution
• Ability to multi-task with multiple projects in order to meet strict deadlines.
• Knowledge of AV and security systems including but not limited to flow diagrams, rack elevations and logical diagrams.
• Hands on experience with creating AV plans, engineering schematics, wiring diagrams
• RCDD and architectural drafting background a plus
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
• Strong initiative—the willingness and ability to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment
• Knowledge of IT infrastructure including cable plant (horizontal & backbone), telecommunication room design, and pathways.
• Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in designing and drawing AV and security systems.
