Designs and engineers innovative, sustainable infrastructure and buildings worldwide.
This is an opportunity to influence major infrastructure and built-environment projects, uplift cultural capability across Arup, and help shape the long-term direction of a growing First Nations practice.
The Senior First Nations Consultant plays a pivotal role in shaping, strengthening and delivering Arup’s First Nations Advisory services across Australia and New Zealand.
Reporting to the ANZ First Nations Lead, this role acts as both a strategic partner and operational leader, bringing high-level cultural capability, relationship building, advisory expertise and project delivery leadership.
We are seeking an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander professional who brings strong cultural credibility, deep community connections and a passion for creating meaningful outcomes for First Nations peoples. You will have 5–8 years of experience in First Nations consulting, community engagement, project management or First Nations design integration, and the ability to turn conversations into clear scopes, frameworks and delivery plans.
The ideal person will bring emotional intelligence, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex, fast-moving environments. You’ll be someone who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, manage multiple projects at once, and bring structure to ambiguity.
Above all, we’re looking for someone grounded, values-based and committed to cultural integrity, truth-telling and community-centred outcomes, someone ready to help shape impactful work across Arup’s First Nations Advisory practice.
You will work with Elders, Traditional Owners, First Nations businesses, community organisations, government agencies and multidisciplinary project teams across Arup. This is a role for a trusted, culturally grounded practitioner who can turn ideas into structured frameworks, proposals, methodologies and community-centred outcomes.
This role is only open to Aboriginal And/or Torres Strait Islander people.
We’re looking for someone who is a natural relationship-builder, someone who communicates with clarity, humility and confidence, and who can provide trusted cultural insight to clients and internal teams. You will be comfortable working both collaboratively and independently, with the judgement to stay aligned to a senior practice lead while leading your own work.
