The Senior Advisor will play a critical part in building a proactive safety culture by applying causal investigation methodologies to analyze incidents, uncover systemic issues, and recommend sustainable solutions. The role involves engaging senior leadership with confidence, presenting findings that drive organizational learning, and leading the continuous improvement of EPCOR’s investigation methodology and best practices.
The role reports to the Manager, Health & Safety – Shared Services and supports EPCOR’s strategic health and safety goals, focusing on incident management, data analysis, corrective action monitoring, training, documentation, and advising senior leadership on risk‑related decisions.
- Lead and support incident investigations using Causal Analysis methodologies.
- Facilitate root cause analysis sessions that emphasize learning rather than blame.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends and systemic factors contributing to incidents.
- Develop clear, actionable recommendations addressing system and behavioral causes to enhance operational resilience and reduce risk.
- Monitor the effectiveness of implemented corrective actions.
- Provide training and coaching on causal reasoning and investigation techniques to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Support the development of the incident management program.
- Assist the Manager, Health & Safety – Shared Services with strategic work plans, initiatives, goals, and statistical targets.
- Advise the Senior Leadership Team and Executives on strategic decisions, risk considerations, and regulatory environment for EPCOR’s Energy business outlook.
- Engage and advise senior leadership and stakeholders with confidence and professionalism.
- Conduct research, analysis, and trend identification of complex events to drive process or system improvements.
- Manage cross‑functional projects and teams to deliver safety outcomes.
- Build strong relationships with field employees and subject matter experts to foster EPCOR’s safety culture.

The position is open to both internal and external candidates; current EPCOR employees should apply using their @epcor.com email address. It participates in EPCOR’s Where We Work hybrid program, subject to business needs and eligibility.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, hold a high school diploma (or equivalent), and be legally entitled to work in Canada on a permanent full‑time basis. Successful applicants will undergo background, reference, and possibly medical checks, and must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Operational Excellence, Change Management, or a related field.
- Possess 5–8+ years of experience leading complex incident investigations using causal analysis.
- Understand HSE principles, regulatory frameworks, and their integration with broader operational functions.
- Demonstrate proficiency in causal investigation methodologies.
- Exhibit strong capability in risk analysis and development of mitigation strategies.
- Show excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Manage multiple priorities effectively with exceptional attention to detail.
- CRSP/CRST designation (nice‑to‑have).
- Incident Investigation certificate or willingness to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and audits.
