  • Manage the entire spectrum of the non-inherently governmental cultural resources program associated with all property controlled by the installation (USAFA, Farish, Bullseye, etc.).
  • Exercise judgment in evaluations.
  • Perform complex assignments and select and modify standard science techniques and procedures for archaeological and historic structure projects.
  • Provide and implement the Cultural Resources Management (CRM) program IAW AFMAN 32-7003 including environmental conservation for the Cadet Area National Historic Landmark District, structures that are listed on or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), eligible or listed archaeological sites, historic buildings and districts, and properties of interest to Native Americans.
  • Supervise a small group of professional technicians as needed.
  • Make decisions on significant design and scientific procedures and take responsibility for survey data compilation, assessment, analysis within historic contexts, historic context development, and report writing.
  • Function as a technical specialist, field supervisor or project manager on mid-size projects as needed, but project management is not sole focus of position.
  • Prepare all State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) coordination packages which may include incorporating comments from the government.

  • Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History or closely related field
  • This position is subject to a governmental background check
  • Due to client contract requirements, US Citizenship - US Naturalized citizen is required
  • Willingness to work under varied weather conditions
  • Successful candidates must be familiar with field study design and documentation, regulatory framework for cultural resource management, and GIS utilities
  • Ability to work in person and on site at United States Air Force Academy
  • Proven experience working with Colorado State Historic Preservation Office
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of and experience with project compliance-related activities including consultation, quality assurance and reviews
  • Prior Air Force Civil Engineering Squadron experience preferred
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in cultural resource projects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
