  • Conduct site visits and documents findings
  • Initiate and lead kickoff calls or high-level design calls with client in addition to preparing monthly forecasting and client cost estimates when appropriate
  • Research jurisdictional requirements for appropriate incorporation into design and construction drawings
  • Prepare of proposal/contract and of project work plans and schedule
  • Prepare GIS exhibits using ArcGIS
  • Consistently deliver proactive communication with clients. When client issues arise, address or expeditiously escalate to discipline lead
  • Troubleshoot issues and recommend solutions, effectively implement and document for internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate client management and marketing efforts for future work
  • Prepare preliminary engineering reports
  • Executes Strategy: Ensuring that people remain focused on accomplishing strategic goals by thoughtfully planning tasks and overcoming obstacles.
  • Develop relationships with clients that allows for ease in communications and problem-solving
  • Contributes to successful delivery and performance of projects.
  • Writes or prepares graphic materials for presentations or documents
  • Lead a team of engineers and drafters
  • Work directly with clients and directing a staff with varied levels of experience and expertise
  • Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Ensures proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects.
  • Reviews project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget. Leads successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client).
  • Fosters a Learning Culture: Creating an inspiring and engaging atmosphere where people feel motivated to grow, experiment, and learn new skills.
  • Identifies Talent: Actively maintaining awareness of internal and external talent, current abilities, and hiring needs.
  • Actively engages and participates in the training, coaching, and mentoring of junior staff.
  • Prepare design and construction drawings using AutoCAD and information obtained from research activities

  • Takes active steps in the pursuit of winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients and may be responsible for a stated portion of office sales goal. Assists and/or leads team in pursuit of new work (repeat work, SOQ and Proposals). Develops and/or executes project Win strategy.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)

Role Description: Huitt-Zollars, Inc has full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer (Eng V) with at least 8-10 years of experience and will be a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Washington. This Civil Engineer/Project Manager position should have experience in the management and design of a wide range of land development projects and public works projects for various industrial, commercial and/or residential development projects. Duties include but not limited to, initial project research, plan production and management of plan production staff, plan processing and management of plan processing efforts, construction administration and project close-out efforts.

  • Experience with producing accurate and complete construction plans and reports
  • Critical Thinking: Analyzing problems and solutions by evaluating the quality of the information available from different sources and avoiding decision-making bias.
  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Solid leadership and management skills, self-motivated, and possess a strong ability to meet deadlines, satisfy clients, and solve complex problems
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, communicating engineering information clearly and concisely
  • Cultivates relationships with clients and holds strong relationships with clients.
  • Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.
  • Knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Civil3D are all a plus
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
  • Willingness/ability to assume increased responsibilities when presented
  • Ability to train staff and review work for quality assurance
  • Understands, follows, and enforces Huitt-Zollars' business process including weekly rhythm.
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment and to manage multiple projects with limited supervision
  • Must be able to work directly with clients and directing a staff with varied levels of experience and expertise
  • Must be a licensed PE in Washington with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience
Benefits

Annual Base Salary Range: $108,000-$126,000 and up depending on experience and qualifications of the selected candidate(s). The expected salary range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Washington Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The final agreed upon compensation is based on the success candidate's individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and consideration to participate in our discretionary annual bonus incentive program.
