The Role

Overview

Conduct power system studies for renewable projects and support interconnection engineering.

Tasks

-Perform power system studies (external to the plant) related to interconnection to ensure compliance with interconnection requirements as well as NERC standards. -Participate in ISO/RTO stakeholder forums and other technical committees such as IEEE or CIGRE. -Contribute to the delivery of projects, delivering on time and to budget. -Perform power system studies (internal to the plant) including, but not limited to, load flow, short circuit, insulation coordination, TOV, arc flash and harmonics. -Work closely with the team members across North America and globally. -Support system studies project(s) throughout the whole lifecycle (i.e. from the technical bid/proposal to execution, reports, client meetings/presentations, to close-out). -Work with different types of customers including renewable developers, utilities, and ISOs/RTOs.

What You Bring

-Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, from a recognized institution. -Knowledge of applicable industry standards such as IEC, IEEE and CIGRE. -Minimum 4 years of direct experience with system studies on utility scale renewable projects. -Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities with a focus achieving results. -Team player with great interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. -Experience with systems studies in California and/or WECC. -Ability and willingness to travel within North America. -Experience with offshore wind and HVDC. -Professional Engineer (PE or PEng) License. -Experience with power system studies using PSS/E, ETAP and PSCAD or other equivalents. -Knowledge of programming languages to streamline studies using Python.
