The engineer will proactively maintain and repair a fleet of assets identified for the Service Life Extension Programme, aiming to maximise operational availability by quickly and cost‑effectively fixing faults while ensuring safety for the foreseeable future. The role includes completing standard SLEP tasks within the given guidelines.
- Liaise with the SLEP Centre Supervisor/Equipment Sustainability Manager to define work scope, timescales and costs.
- Identify additional work, follow the NFW&T process for damage, and highlight potential revenue from damaged equipment.
- Complete all job and service documentation with accurate data and obtain required signatures.
- Repair, maintain, inspect and service plant and HGV equipment and ancillaries in line with company standards and LOLER/PUWER legislation.
- Maintain local stocks of spares, CES, ancillaries, attachments and technical documentation.
- Record and input management information from maintenance and transactions using existing processes.
- Adhere to safety, health, environmental and quality policies and ensure safe systems of work.
- Mentor WFA and MoD maintainers and users within qualification limits.
- Perform out‑of‑hours duties, including weekend work, as required.
- Achieve local or team goals and KPI targets.

- Hold a full UK driving licence.
- Possess City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering.
- Demonstrate experience with diagnostic techniques and construction‑related plant/MHE/HGV maintenance.
- Have working knowledge of Health & Safety, LOLER and PUWER regulations.
- Be able to load and unload equipment, tools, STTE and spares.
- Have no restrictions to obtain MoD security clearance (BPSS required).
- Hold a valid passport for occasional overseas travel.
- Capable of managing periods of intense workload.
