Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. Our values shape the way we consult and define the people we want to join us on our journey.
The ideal candidate holds a relevant degree and possesses deep expertise in complex construction law, using data‑driven approaches to recommend solutions to senior stakeholders. Strong communication skills are required to translate complex legal concepts for a range of audiences.
Technical competencies include familiarity with industry contracts such as NEC, JCT and FIDIC, knowledge of construction project insurances, and understanding of regulatory frameworks covering health and safety, the building safety act and public procurement.
Industry experience demands qualification as a construction lawyer in England and Wales (or equivalent), multi‑jurisdictional exposure, and a track record handling contentious construction matters, disputes and claims avoidance.
Professional competencies encompass communicating technical ideas to non‑technical audiences, influencing senior stakeholders up to Project Director level, managing change, demonstrating commercial awareness of the construction sector, and horizon scanning for emerging legislation and legal trends.
Leadership expectations involve excellent negotiation skills, coaching and upskilling team members, managing multiple priorities, solving complex problems with legal expertise, and representing the legal team to internal stakeholders.
