The Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) organization maintains NuScale’s V&V program and provides vendor oversight for safety‑related digital I&C in accordance with IEEE Std 1012‑2004, endorsed by Regulatory Guide 1.168 Rev 2. Responsibilities include updating IV&V plans and procedures, performing criticality analyses for SIL‑level software, supporting development and review of digital I&C system requirements, reviewing vendor V&V artifacts, and participating in risk‑mitigation activities. Assigned work will be directed by the IV&V director.
This is a staff‑augmentation contract position expected to be 40 hours per week for 6–12 months. Work will be performed remotely, with up to 20 % travel as needed. Candidates must have experience with nuclear digital instrumentation and control independent verification and validation.
Successful performance requires strong problem‑solving skills, independent judgment, and the ability to gather and analyze information promptly. Effective oral and written communication, clear interpersonal networking, and the capacity to create and interpret complex documentation are essential. The role also demands disciplined planning, adaptability to changing conditions, consistent dependability, and a commitment to safety culture and quality‑assurance standards such as 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA‑1.
Candidates must hold at least a bachelor’s degree in computer, electrical, nuclear, or a related engineering discipline. A minimum of 15 years of experience in safety I&C and V&V, preferably within the power or nuclear sector, is required, along with demonstrated expertise in IEEE Std 1012‑2004 and major nuclear digital I&C projects. Eligibility to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810 is also mandatory.
The position entails typical office physical demands such as sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting of 10–15 lb, as well as the ability to operate standard equipment. Employees must be able to travel nationally and internationally up to 20 % of the time, using common transportation methods.
