Machine Shop Apprentice

Description

• Removal of valve train components from cylinder head core using appropriate tools
• Maintain cleanliness of assigned shop area, tools, equipment, and machinery
• Use of automotive hydraulic press to remove and install new valve train components
• Perform repair to cylinder head casting or thread repair
• Utilization of measuring tools to include micrometers, calipers, ball gauges to perform pre-machine inspections
• Use of digital programs to input data for tracking
• Operation of parts washer and ultrasonic machine to remove build up/debris
• Use of angle grinder, drills, and various metallic cleaning tools to remove carbon/paint from cylinder heads

Requirements

• Ability to follow established safety, quality, and production protocol.
• Adaptability and resiliency in a changing environment.
• Use of welder to apply heat/leverage to remove valve seats from cylinder heads
• Ability to handle frequent interruptions and handle conflict in an effective manner.
• Ability to work under stress in a high tempo environment.
• Action-oriented: Self-motivated, problem solver, takes initiative when issues arise, acting quickly and responding accordingly.
• Possess a motivated, positive, energetic, and self sufficient attitude.
• Must be able to provide valid I-9 documentation to verify identity and employment eligibility, such as a U.S. passport, permanent resident card, or a combination of a state-issued ID and Social Security card or birth certificate.
• Computer (occasionally).
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft computer programs.
• Trustworthy: Reliable and honest, building confidence through integrity and consistent performance.
• Ability to work well in a team setting, as well as independently.
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain deadlines.
• Willing to consent to and pass a background check and drug screening.
