The Building Envelope Intern role focuses on producing quality building enclosure designs in line with BEAM standards and received instructions. This part‑time position is ideal for individuals pursuing a technical certification, community‑college, or university degree related to the building envelope industry.
Interns will produce construction documents, support production designers and managers, and conduct real‑time quality assurance of their own work. They are expected to proactively seek assistance, assist teammates, and quickly learn to complete full drawing sets and comprehend building enclosure systems and the BEAM project life cycle.
BEAM Professionals has more than 30 years of experience in designing and maintaining exterior building envelope components for K‑12, higher education, municipalities, corporate and commercial, and sports clients. Candidates must be proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office, and possess strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail. They should thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment, manage multiple projects, and be willing to follow directions and receive feedback.
Preferred qualifications include 0–2 years’ experience with AutoCAD/Revit, entry‑level familiarity with BIM360, relevant training certificates, an associate or bachelor’s degree in architecture or construction science, prior drafting experience for an architectural or building‑envelope firm, and knowledge of roofing or waterproofing.
