The Permit Coordinator secures all required encroachment and construction permits for telecom and utility projects by collaborating with jurisdictions, customers, vendors, and internal teams. This role manages the full permit schedule from kickoff to acquisition, ensuring timely submittals, resolving jurisdictional conflicts, and meeting service‑level agreements.
- Lead permit kickoff meetings with jurisdiction officials.
- Perform jurisdictional conformance checks.
- Ensure permit SLAs and schedules are met.
- Own the permitting process, coordinating design vendors and updating stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve conflicting permitting requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Access engineering and facility assignment databases for permit information.
- Work with the permit team to handle escalations and mitigate issues promptly.
- Apply OSP telecommunications terminology in permitting activities.
- Maintain accuracy, thoroughness, and pursue continuous quality improvements.
- Listen actively, seek clarification, and contribute effectively in meetings.
- Follow policies, complete administrative tasks on time, and support organizational goals.
- Meet established permitting KPI standards.
- Drive to permitting agencies daily and maintain detailed tracking systems.

- Hold a High School Diploma or GED (required).
- Possess 1+ years of college/technical school or six months related experience/training.
- Have experience working with permitting agencies and OSP telecom or utility builds.
- Be familiar with acquiring encroachment, excavation, and traffic‑control permits.
- Travel up to 20% of the time by air or vehicle; maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Preferred: NEPA or environmental permitting experience.
